DESCRIPTION

As summer nears, many rising junior families are reaching out to us with questions about college admission testing, including:

  • Since Illinois requires that I take the ACT to graduate, should I still look into the SAT?
  • What’s “new” about the New ACT?
  • Should I take the Science section? The essay?
  • What’s a good score for U of I? IU? Northwestern?
  • Am I too early (or too late!) to start preparing?
  • When should I take official exams?
  • Which colleges will require test scores for my class year?
  • Should I prepare for the PSAT?
  • When do most students get their best scores?
  • What do superscoring, self-reporting, and score choice mean?
  • What do the smartest test-takers do to end junior year with strong scores?

To help you approach testing knowledgeably, please join the experts at Compass for a pre-summer update on these and other common questions for rising juniors.  Attendees will get a free practice test!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Eric graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois, where he captained U of I’s top five nationally-ranked handball team and was the first Rhodes Scholarship campus nominee in nearly a decade. After graduation he worked for the Discovery Channel, MTV Networks, Sony Pictures, and YouTube. Between his time working with film, Eric joined Compass’s Southern California team as an ACT and SAT math tutor, an experience he loved so much that, in 2019, he made it his mission to bring Compass back to the Midwest.  When he is not geeking out over standardized tests, Eric enjoys being an amateur triathlete, an intermediate grillmaster, and a world class bookworm.  Each year, Eric and his colleagues speak at over 300 high schools and professional organizations, where they demystify the SAT and ACT and dispel anxiety about the testing process.
