Frequently Asked Questions:
What kind of score improvement can we expect to see from this class?
The truth is that score improvements vary widely and depend on several factors:
- What is the student’s starting or baseline score?
- What level of math has a student completed prior to the class?
- Does the student attend all instructional sessions and complete all homework assignments and practice test sessions?
For a typical student starting in the 1000-1200 range on the SAT or 20-25 Composite on the ACT, we expect to see 100-200 points of SAT improvement or the equivalent of 3-6 points on the ACT scale.
How do the practice test sessions work for students with accommodations?
Students with accommodations will be able to complete their practice tests within extended time sessions. Compass provides proctored sessions for students 50% and 100% extended time. Please speak with your instructor or our testing coordinator to share your needs.
If I have a conflict for one of my classes, can I attend a different section?
Students are only able to attend the class section they are registered for. However, classes are recorded and are available to all registered students for viewing and instructors can be contacted during office hours to answer questions.
What if I can’t make a proctored practice test session?
Practice tests can be self-administered at any time. We also have a flexible schedule of online proctoring sessions for make-up options.
If the section that I want to attend is full, will there be a waitlist?
Yes, please fill out this form or contact us at classes@compassprep.com. We’ll alert you if and when space becomes available or another section is opened for enrollment.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes, we have some limited scholarship funds available. Most often, requests for aid come from our partner institutions and/or teachers who nominate a deserving student. Our ability to offer aid is also tied to the enrollment numbers for a particular section. Please contact us at classes@compassprep.com for more information if you qualify for financial aid.
